True Corporation’s Nationwide ‘Single Grid’ Network: Boosting Speed, Signal Strength and Coverage while Reducing Greenhouse Emissions with AI

08 November 2023

  • Ready to expand the 5G network to 97% coverage with a quality network.
  • Cooperate with True-dtac signals to access wider spectrums and enhance the efficiency of both 5G and 4G
  • Minimize signal interruptions by reducing redundant towers while keeping frequency distribution equipment

November 8th 2023 – True Corporation ensured the quality of its mobile phone service, advancing to create the superior “Single Grid” network project for over 50 million customers, proof of its commitment to elevating the best 5G and 4G signal experience following the True-dtac amalgamation. True Corporation revealed its use of state-of-the-art technology to manage redundant towers without reducing the number of base stations, utilizing spectrum consolidation to unify and enhance signal speed. This solidifies its position as the number one telecom-tech company in Thailand.

True Corporation is rapidly expanding its quality connectivity through ‘Roaming’ during the initial period after the amalgamation of True and dtac. Over 76% of the customers can now access the stable 2600MHz and 700MHz frequencies. Additionally, the company is currently implementing the ‘Single Grid’ project nationwide for over 50 million users, with an expected completion date in 2025. True Corporation has the infrastructure to fully support Thailand’s growing digital economy, encompassing mobile and broadband services. At present, the True-dtac 4G network covers 99% of the population, and the True-dtac 5G network aims to achieve 97% coverage by 2025.

Mr. Prathet Tankuranun, Chief Technology Officer, True Corporation PLC, said, “Today, we are swiftly moving forward to combine our signal towers into a Single Grid, which is the cornerstone of our efforts to consolidate the strengths of both True and dtac in terms of signal towers and spectrums. We are integrating our infrastructure and adjusting the redundant signal towers. In doing so, we are creating a network with improved signal quality and coverage. Leveraging our data insights, we have delved deeply into usage details in each area and are implementing modern tower signal technology to consolidate our wide and diverse range of spectrums from True and dtac, solidifying our position as the operator with the most frequencies.”

The consolidation of base stations in the same area aims to harness the strengths of True and dtac signal towers. Contrary to inaccurate reports suggesting that signal towers are dummy towers, this is not the case. On the contrary, the Single Grid initiative enhances network efficiency across all spectrums.

Combining networks under True Corporation’s focus is aimed at enhancing user experiences by expanding network coverage through the consolidation of spectrums for maximum efficiency across a wide range of frequencies, including 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2600 MHz, and 26GHz. This approach will provide a network with broader coverage and utilize real-time data insights, operating in conjunction with world-class alliances.

Ensuring signal quality under the Single Grid, with spectrum consolidation, has been successfully completed in the pilot projects in the South

5G and 4G signals are now stronger and more stable, particularly for home usage. Signal capacity has increased, allowing for more usage in every spectrum. Based on the conducted pilot tests of 5G at 2600 MHz, 5G at 700 MHz, 4G on the low band, and 4G on the mid-band, it has been found that the signals are approximately 2 times faster and stronger.

Enabling Positive Climate Impact

True Corporation aims to reduce carbon emissions by 42% by 2030, achieved through enhanced energy consumption efficiency using AI and Machine Learning (ML), as well as the strategic utilization of Solar Powered Cell Sites at base station prototypes.

  • The ‘Single Grid’ initiative minimizes the impact of climate change by improving energy efficiency and planning consumption.
  • A 15% reduction in carbon emissions and increased energy efficiency are achieved through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
  • Achieving 100% integration of data centers, energy analysis, and ongoing efforts to maximize efficiency.
