13 September 2024

September 13, 2024 – True Corporation has accelerated its efforts to assist flood victims in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai Province. Teams from True have been dispatched to the area to help evacuate stranded residents and deliver support, including food, drinking water, and clothing. The company has also heightened its emergency disaster response measures to ensure uninterrupted communication services in the affected areas.

True Corporation teams have been on the ground in Chiang Rai, closely monitoring the flood situation. They have deployed mobile cell-on-wheel (COW) units to emergency locations and flood victim assistance centers to support communication during the disaster. Additionally, regional teams have entered some flooded areas to assist in evacuating affected residents from their homes to safe locations.

Mr. Prathet Tankuranun, Chief Technology Officer of True Corporation Plc., said, “True’s network team has brought generators and fuel into the flooded areas of Chiang Rai Province, focusing on locations where the situation has started to improve following the initial strong forest runoff. This ensures that signal towers in areas where the Provincial Electricity Authority had to cut power for safety reasons can continue to operate in emergency situations, allowing people in the affected areas to maintain communication throughout the crisis. In addition, we are providing comprehensive support to the flood victims.”

In terms of emergency preparedness, True Corporation has established a special operations team at the Business and Network Intelligence Center (BNIC), working in conjunction with AI systems to monitor the network 24/7. The company has also prepared tools, backup equipment, and staff to maintain signal towers. Four-wheel-drive vehicles and flat-bottom boats are ready to transport emergency generators to affected towers.

True Corporation has also implemented relief measures for customers in disaster-affected areas, extending the validity of prepaid services by 7 days and suspending signal disconnections. Additionally, payment deadlines for monthly subscribers of TrueMove H, dtac, TrueOnline, and TrueVisions have been extended by 7 days.

The special operations team at True Corporation’s War Room has been closely monitoring the flood situation around the clock in all affected provinces, keeping a close watch on the movement of water masses. This is to ensure the readiness of emergency response plans to maintain communication systems during the crisis and to support affected communities.
