October 15, 2024 – True Corporation is intensifying its efforts in collaboration with the police to combat the theft of mobile tower equipment, following reports of stolen signal towers nationwide that have impacted public services. It is working with relevant agencies to investigate the behaviors, movements, and trafficking routes of stolen goods to dismantle the criminal network. Recently, True collaborated with Provincial Police Region 7, providing leads that resulted in the arrest of five gang members involved in the theft of mobile tower equipment in the Central region, with seized goods valued at over 22.5 million baht. This criminal activity has caused significant harm to the public in various areas across the country.

The theft of signal tower equipment, considered essential digital infrastructure for public use, poses a serious threat to the economy and disrupts daily life. True Corporation is committed to working with the police to ensure that all offenders are prosecuted to the fullest extent.

Provincial Police Region 7 conducted operations to dismantle the gang responsible for stealing True Corporation’s mobile signal equipment in Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Pathom, and other provinces across the country, arresting five suspects and seizing a total of 43 items, comprising 357 pieces, valued at approximately 22.5 million baht. This gang is part of a large network stealing mobile signal equipment nationwide for resale to foreign buyers. Law enforcement is actively investigating to identify the buyers involved and trace financial flows, aiming to completely dismantle this criminal network.

True has implemented proactive measures to prevent theft, such as installing AI-equipped surveillance systems capable of accurately detecting suspicious activities. They are also working closely with the police to track down thieves and have established a legal office to coordinate with law enforcement. True has confirmed that it will take legal action against all offenders without negotiations.

Mr. Rittiron Preodprom, Attorney from B and L Law Firm, representing True Corporation, said, “This incident severely affects mobile network services, which are essential digital infrastructure, preventing the public from using services normally and impacting communication, business, and daily life. Additionally, it causes damage to company assets and threatens the security of the country’s telecommunications system.”

Legally, offenders will face both criminal and civil charges. The theft charge is serious under the Penal Code, Section 335, carrying a maximum prison sentence of seven years and fines of up to 100,000 baht, with both imprisonment and fines applicable. Furthermore, civil lawsuits for damages will be pursued to seek maximum compensation.

True Corporation has designated B and L Law Firm to collaborate with the police in rigorously pursuing cases of theft of communication equipment, including signal receivers, lithium batteries, wires, and other equipment nationwide, focusing on thorough investigations to bring all offenders to justice.

True Corporation has made its stance clear in protecting telecommunications infrastructure for the benefit of the public across Thailand, aiming for serious crackdowns and proactive plans to prevent the theft of communication equipment, while working closely with law enforcement. The police have requested public cooperation in reporting any suspicious activities related to the theft of mobile signal towers or suspicious telecommunications equipment sales, as these criminal actions cause significant disruptions to public services, affecting the economy and quality of life.
