True embarks on its journey to become a telecom-tech company with an upskilling initiative, “40-hour LEARNATHON”

4th July 2023 – True Corporation Plc is on a journey to transform itself into a telecom-tech company, with the goal of achieving organizational excellence. As part of this transformation, which is expected to be completed by 2025, the company is fostering a lifelong learning culture and empowering employees to upskill and reskill themselves. The implementation of the 70-20-10 model and True learning platform, True Digital Academy’s curriculum, along with other world-class skill development platforms, support this initiative. Throughout 2023, employees will participate in a 40-hour LEARNATHON to further enhance their skills and knowledge.

The transformation journey encompasses three key pillars, outlined as follows:

1. Talents and leaders: Through intensive people and leadership development programs and strategic restructuring initiatives, True Corporation provides extensive opportunities for reskilling and upskilling. The company actively motivates employees to redesign their careers and embrace new growth opportunities. By investing in the development of its people, the company aims to cultivate a high skills and adaptable workforce and attracts top-notch professionals. 

2. Processes: By integrating advanced digital tools like AI, robotics, and automation into daily operations, workflows are streamlined, individuals are empowered, and work becomes more meaningful. 40-Hour LEARNATHON

The “40-hour LEARNATHON” initiative is designed to enhance employees’ capabilities and digital competencies through a 40-hour learning journey. True employees have the flexibility to access learning materials from anywhere and at any time through the True learning platform. This platform is designed based on core and leadership competency development framework, the curriculum of True Digital Academy and other world-class skill development platforms.

The program aims to enhance the workforce’s capabilities in the digital era by providing updated and hands-on skills aligned with the organization’s requirements. It covers a wide range of digital upskilling programs, including data analytics, digital marketing, product management, UX design, AI & robotics, cyber security, as well as essential skills like agility, change management, and collaboration as well as customer-centric learning courses such as customer care, customer communication, and problem-solving.

To make the learning experience engaging, the program incorporates gamification methods. Participants can earn badges that grant access to advanced courses and offer rewards. The objective is to empower employees to explore topics they are interested in, plan their learning progress, and cater to the specific needs of their teams.

70-20-10 Model

True has implemented the 3E (70-20-10) model to foster a lifelong learning culture within the organization. Under this model:

70% Experience: Learning occurs through on-the-job training, allowing employees to gain knowledge and skills through hands-on involvement in various projects and assignments.

20% Exposure: Learning occurs through on-the-job experience, fostering knowledge exchange in group settings, sharing best practices, and engaging in mentoring and coaching.

10% Education: Learning is facilitated through formal methods, which include structured curriculums and workshops. True is implementing specific courses tailored for three target groups: employees, management, and experts. These courses aim to equip individuals with essential skills necessary for the company’s journey to accelerate digital transformation.
