dtac doubles mobile network capacity for Pope Francis’ Apostolic Visit

Nov 20, 2019 – Total Access Communication PLC or dtac has doubled its mobile signal capacities at the locations where His Holiness Pope Francis is scheduled to make a visit on the occasion of of the 350th anniversary of the establishment of the Apostolic Vicariate of Siam, as well as the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Holy See, during 20 to 23 November.

Mr. Prathet Tankuranun, Chief Technology Officer, Total Access Communication PLC or dtac, said: “dtac’s engineering team has undertaken signal reception surveys on the locations where His Holiness Pope Francis will be visiting to Thailand. We’ll have a 24-hour response team and are doubling our network capacity in those areas.”

dtac has been in full preparation to ensure a smooth network experience for the public in what is expected to be highly-congested areas, doubling its capacity with additional, temporary sites, mobile units as well as small additional antennas. In particular, the National Stadium is expected to welcome 50,000 Catholics to attend the Holy Mass. Additional locations include St.Louis hospital where the Pope will meet with medical staff and a visit to the St. Peter’s Parish to meet with priests and other catholic church members.

dtac has also prepared a special taskforce to monitor the network around the clock from 20-23 Nov to ensure uninterrupted mobile connectivity during the Pope’s Apostolic Visit to Thailand.
