October 4, 2021 – Dr. Kiatphum Wongrajit, Permanent Secretary of Public Health presented a certificate of merit for operational support to Mr. Marcus Adaktusson, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Total Access Communication PLC or dtac. The presentation was made during the closing ceremony of the Bussarakham Field Hospital. Through deployment of Wi-Fi solution and boosting of the mobile network with mobile base stations, dtac had supported connectivity for medical personnel, support workers, and patients.
The Bussarakham Field Hospital was created inside the Challenger Hall, IMPACT Muangthong Thani, where it spanned 100,000 square meters. Launched 14 May 2021 for a target period of 130 days, its last patient was discharged on 20th September 2021.
As cases rose in early 2021, the Ministry of Public Health raced to set up this field hospital with the cooperation of various government and private sector organizations, including dtac. The facility housed 3,700 beds and cared for a total of 20,436 patients. This was Thailand’s largest-ever field hospital.
The steadily decreasing number of confirmed cases in September and an increasing number of available beds in conventional hospitals in Greater Bangkok was the rationale for the ministry to close the Bussarakham Field Hospital.
